Abstract
Isotope-based paleodietary reconstruction of La Tene populations in the Czech Republic have been the focus of previous research; however, the Eastern Bohemia region remains absent from the general overview. Previous research revealed that La Tene individuals primarily consumed plant proteins, with minor contributions from animal products. Some dietary variations were observed which may have been linked to social hierarchies or demographic aspects. In a new study, we isotopically investigated the diets of five individuals buried in graves located in Sběř and Kopidlno (Jičín district), Mikulovice and Dubany (Pardubice district), and Chrudim (Chrudim district). This will offer a first isotopic insight into Celtic diets in Eastern Bohemia dating to the middle La Tene period (LT B). A multiple sampling strategy (long bone, rib, molar) was employed to reconstruct temporal variations in diet for each individual. Obtained results were contextualized within the existing published research on Central Europe.
