Abstract

This article examines wall-paintings and other wall decorations designed after the Chinese fashion, in the eighteenth century, which are preserved in former aristocratic residences in the Czech Republic. The readers’ attention is directed toward the locally made decorations which represent various stages and modes of this kind of chinoiserie in Bohemia, and which have not been put together in a single survey before. The earliest group of interiors, imitating lacquer, seldom survived and is now rare. Most of the interiors feature wall-paintings which draw on French chinoiserie rather than Chinese originals, there also are painted emulations of Delft tiles with ‘Chinese’ images. Illusionist exotic landscapes, which are closely related, are also discussed. These categories reflect the diversity of chinoiserie in wall decorations, and, to a certain extent, follow chronological order.

Článek zkoumá nástěnné malby a další výzdobu stěn podle tzv. čínské módy v 18. století, které se dochovaly na zámcích v ČR. Tyto malby reprezentují různé etapy a styly těchto chinoisérií, a dosud nebyly v angličtině uvedeny. Nejstarší skupina napodobující laky se dochovala sporadicky. Většina interiéry je zdobena malbami, které vycházejí z jiných chinoisérií spíše než z autentických čínských předloh. Pojednává též o iluzívních výmalbách tzv. delftských kachlů s "čínskými" náměty. S tématem úzce souvisejí i iluzívní exotické krajiny, o nichž je také pojednáno. Ze jmenovaných kategorií vyplývá různorodost chinoisérních nástěnných maleb, které jsou popsány do jisté míry v chronologickém sledu.
