Abstract
The goal of this article is first to understand the role of water as a bridge between the earthly experience and the heavenly sphere. Second, we wish to investigate the visual and spatial strategies put in place to mediate this situation. Lastly, we would like to reflect on the question of transmediatic experience. Instead of considering visual and spatial media as literal tools to express an immaterial reality, we wish to investigate hierotopic and mediatic activation as a method of introspection leading to the activation of what has been called the “spiritual eye”.
