V eseji Des Espaces Autres Michel Foucault vysvětluje pojem heterotopie a uvádí několik příkladů - svět za zrcadlem, vězení, internát, hřbitov nebo zahrada, které podle něj mohou symbolizovat celý svět. Dalším příkladem heterotopie je nesporně labyrint, který - stejně jako zahrada - symbolizuje universum, ale také vězení nebo hřbitov, například pro Minotaura. Labyrint, bludiště, je místem, kde je nám zakázáno používat mapu, protože jeho účelem je hledat správnou cestu bez nápovědy. V českém kulturním prostředí se alegorie světa jako labyrintu vztahuje k baroknímu filozofovi Janu Amosi Komenskému a jeho traktátu Labyrint světa a ráj srdce (1623), který ovlivnil řadu umělců v minulosti i současnosti. Příspěvek se zaměřuje na postavy zapojené do problematiky labyrintu a na problematiku možnosti zpětného sledování něčí pouti, jejíž svědectví se nachází ve starém deníku a vybledlých vzpomínkách. Role nespolehlivé paměti jako zdroje tvořivosti bude demonstrována především na uměleckých dílech Petra Síse.

In his essay "Des Espaces Autres" Michel Foucault explains the concept of heterotopia and gives several examples - the world behind the mirror, a prison, a dormitory, a cemetery or a garden - which, according to him, can symbolize the whole world. Another example of heterotopia is undeniably the labyrinth, which - like the garden - symbolizes the universe, but also a prison or a graveyard, for example for the Minotaur. The labyrinth, the maze, is a place where we are forbidden to use a map because its purpose is to find the right way without a clue. In the Czech cultural milieu, the allegory of the world as a labyrinth relates to the Baroque philosopher Jan Amos Comenius and his treatise The Labyrinth of the World and the Paradise of the Heart (1623), which influenced many artists past and present. The paper focuses on the characters involved in the labyrinth and the issue of the possibility of tracing back one's journey, the evidence of which is found in old diaries and faded memories. The role of unreliable memory as a source of creativity will be demonstrated mainly through the artworks of Petr Sís.
