Abstract

V originále

In this chapter the author explores the significance of design protection in the digital realm, particularly in web design, graphical user interfaces, and 3D printing using data files. The chapter covers various aspects of design protection, including different types of design protection, international treaties related to design protection, EU framework for design protection, national level design protection in the Czech Republic, eligibility requirements for design protection, industrial design application proceedings, scope and duration of protection, design rights, limitations on design rights, and the effects of registered design. The chapter also addresses the protection of graphical user interfaces and their potential copyright protection, as well as the implications of 3D printing on design law. It emphasizes the importance of verifying whether design or copyright protection applies before engaging in activities such as scanning, sharing, or printing 3D objects.
