Abstract

Paradoxní žánr ekfráze, která popisuje díla vyjádřená jiným uměleckým druhem, byl samozřejmě v minulosti mnohokrát reflektován a prozkoumán. Ve svém příspěvku se ale chci zaměřit na ekfrázi jakožto klíč k rozluštění záhad, tedy jako na nástroj zkoumání detektivního rázu. Z českého prostředí jsem vybrala novelu Ladislava Fukse Obraz Martina Blaskowitze, ze současné světové literatury budu ve svém příspěvku mluvit o knize Grandhotel Evropa nizozemského autora Ilji Leonarda Pfeiffera, jejímž ústředním motivem je hledání Caravaggiova obrazu. Na těchto i dalších vybraných literárních textech poukáži na význam ekfráze v souvislosti s řešením záhad a jejich funkcí katalyzátoru těchto napínavých situací.

Abstract (in English)

Of course, the paradoxical genre of ekphrasis, which describes works expressed by another art form, has been reflected upon and explored many times in the past. In my paper, however, I want to focus on ekphrasis as a key to unraveling mysteries, that is, as a tool of investigation of a detective nature. From the Czech milieu I have chosen Ladislav Fuks' novel The Picture by Martin Blaskowitz, and from contemporary world literature I will talk about the book Grandhotel Europe by the Dutch author Ilja Leonard Pfeiffer, whose central motif is the search for a painting by Caravaggio. Using these and other selected literary texts, I will highlight the importance of ekphrasis in the context of mystery solving and its function as a catalyst for these suspenseful situations.
