Abstract

Autor přítomného článku se zabývá pojetím irénismu u Karla Čapka s obecným úvodem k problémům smíření a harmonie meziosobních vztahů a k otázkám války a míru. Úvodní partie obsahuje jádro Čapkovy tvůrčí aktivity, její recepci se zmínkou o jeho nelítostném anglickém kritikovi Robertu Pynsentovi. Zvláštní rysy Čapkovy před¬stavy irénismu jsou úzce spjaty s vývojem jeho filozofie literatury v podobě próz a dramat směřujících od poetiky znejistění, hledání uzlových bodů života, analýzy hrozeb a katastrof na základě jak experimentální technologie, tak biologie, některé napsané spolu s bratrem Josefem. Téma irénismu představuje tematický spodní proud, jenž čas¬to odhaluje svou odvrácenou stranu vedoucí od permanentního hledání přes relativismus k totální noetické skepsi.

Abstract (in English)

The author of the present article deals with Karel Čapek’s conception of irenicism with the general introduction to the problems of concilliation and harmony of interpersonal relations and the question of war and peace. The intro¬ductory part contains the kernel of Čapek’s creative activity, its reception mentioning his merciless English critic Robert Pynsent. The specific features of Čapek’s vision of irenicism are closely connected with the evolution of his philosophy of literature in the form of prose works and dramas moving from the poetics of uncertainty, search for the nodal points in life, the analysis of threats and disasters on the basis of both experimental technology and biology some of them written together with his brother Josef. The theme of irenicism represents a thematic un¬dercurrent often revealing its darker side leading from the permanent search through relativism to the total noetic scepticism.
