Abstract

El presente trabajo examina la recepción de la obra del filósofo e hispanista Juan Carlos Rodríguez Gómez (1942-2016), por el profesor Malcolm K. Read. El trabajo aborda su lectura centrándose en su último libro, pero haciendo referencias a otros trabajos anteriores. La obra de Read ofrece un punto de vista doblemente privilegiado, por el trabajo académico del autor entre la teoría y los estudios literarios y por su situación en el campo universitario anglosajón, para ver tanto la potencialidad como los obstáculos de la obra de Rodríguez para su recepción fuera de Espanna, pero también sus dificultades en la recepción interna. El presente artículo sennala los aciertos de sus análisis, los complementa y matiza con algunas observaciones.

Abstract (in English)

This paper examines the reception of the work of the philosopher and Hispanist Juan Carlos Rodríguez Gómez (1942-2016) by Professor Malcolm K. Read. The paper approaches his reading by focusing on his latest book, but making references to other earlier works. Read’s book offers a doubly vantage point of view, because of the author’s academic work between theory and literary studies and because of his situation in the Anglo-Saxon university field; therefore, it was possible to see both the potential and the obstacles of Rodríguez’s work for its reception outside Spain, but also its difficulties in its internal reception. The present article points out the insightfulness of his analyses, adding on some discussion and observations to nuance Read’s complex commentaries.
