Abstract

V návaznosti na stav bádání klade studie otázku, zda, v čem a v jaké míře byl případ Besedního a Německého domu v Brně ve srovnání s jinými spolkovými domy na Moravě v období do r. 1914 typický nebo specifický. Dochází k závěru, že i když se okolnosti působení spolkových domů v jednotlivých moravských městech značně lišily, jejich základní charakteristické rysy a funkce byly podobné. Jistá specifičnost brněnského Besedního a Německého domu spočívala především v symbolické hodnotě a národně integrační funkci, kterou oba domy představovaly pro vlastní národní společnost jak v Brně, tak na celé Moravy.

Abstract (in English)

In relation to the state of research, the study asks whether, in what ways and to what extent the case of the Besední and German House in Brno was typical or specific in comparison with other club houses in Moravia in the period until 1914. It concludes that although the circumstances of the operation of the club houses in the individual Moravian towns differed considerably, their basic characteristics and functions were similar. A certain specificity of the Besední House and the German House in Brno lay primarily in the symbolic value and national integration function that both houses represented for their own national society both in Brno and throughout Moravia.
