Abstract

Nous avons concentré notre contribution sur Jean Cocteau et sur les mécènes qui ont compté dans sa vie, parce que de nombreux ouvrages ne seraient jamais nés (du moins pas sous la forme sous laquelle les lecteurs et les admirateurs de Cocteau les connaissent). Il y a plusieurs traits dominants concernant le personnage de Jean Cocteau qui lui ont toujours assuré de bons amis, des admirateurs et finalement aussi des mécènes. Grâce à sa virtuosité, à sa « difficulté d’être », à la poésie de sa vie et de son œuvre, le poète a rencontré quelques mécènes, nous en privilégierons trois : Gabrielle Chanel, Marie-Laure de Noailles et Francine Weisweiller.

V našem příspěvku jsme zaměřili na Jeana Cocteaua a mecenáše, kteří byli v jeho životě důležití, protože mnoho Cocteauových děl by nikdy nevzniklo (alespoň ne v podobě, v jaké je znají Cocteauovi čtenáři a obdivovatelé). Jeana Cocteaua charakterizovalo několik dominantních rysů, které mu vždy zajišťovaly dobré přátele, obdivovatele, a nakonec i mecenáše. Básník se díky své virtuozitě, „obtížnosti bytí“, poezii svého života a díla setkal s několika mecenáši, z nichž zmíníme tři nejvýznamnější: Gabrielle Chanel, Marie-Laure de Noailles a Francine Weisweiller.

Abstract (in English)

We have focused our contribution on Jean Cocteau and the patrons who were important in his life, because many works would never have been born (at least not in the form in which readers and admirers of Cocteau know them). There are several dominant traits concerning the character of Jean Cocteau which have always ensured him good friends, admirers and ultimately also patrons. Thanks to his virtuosity, to his “difficulty of being”, to the poetry of his life and his work, the poet met a few patrons, we will favor three: Gabrielle Chanel, Marie-Laure de Noailles and Francine Weisweiller.
