Abstract

Po roce 1861 se Brno začalo proměňovat do skutečně moderního města. Postavena byla okružní třída, podle vzoru Vídně, odkud přišlo množství významných architektů, aby se navždy zapsali na mapu města. Brno se tak stalo malým otiskem rakouské metropole. Slavnou éru zažilo město také v období první poloviny 20. století, zejména funkcionalismus tu uplatnilo mnoho slavných architektů. Vedle Tugendhatových, kteří si vybrali funkcionalistickou vilu na světové výstavě v Barceloně pro své bydlení, stála exkluzivní budova A na výstavišti, jejíž podoba se stala předlohou pro nové brněnské hlavní nádraží. Přednáška bude zaměřena na známé brněnské budovy a sochy v méně známých kontextech. Jak Brusel ovlivnil Brno už v 60. letech? Které divadlo má vlastní elektrárnu? Kde má papež srdce, nebo proč stojí Platonovi ctnosti na ulici?

Abstract (in English)

After 1861 Brno began to transform into a truly modern city. A circular avenue was built, following the example of Vienna, from where many important architects came to put their names on the city map forever. Brno thus became a small imprint of the Austrian metropolis. The city also experienced a glorious era in the first half of the 20th century, especially functionalism was applied here by many famous architects. Alongside the Tugendhats, who chose a functionalist villa at the World Exhibition in Barcelona for their home, stood the exclusive Building A at the Exhibition Grounds, whose form became the model for Brno's new main station. The lecture will focus on famous Brno buildings and sculptures in lesser-known contexts. How did Brussels influence Brno in the 1960s? Which theatre has its own power station? Where is the Pope's heart, or why do Plato's virtues stand in the street?
