Abstract

Příspěvek věnuje pozornost dosud málo známé osobnosti Karla Behra a jejímu přínosu pro pražský kulturní a společenský život v 50. a 60. letech 19. století. Připomíná také Behrovy mnohostranné podnikatelské aktivity, zejména osvětlení vzniku a fungování jeho uměleckého obchodu a jeho sortimentu. Přibližuje také poměrně výrazný ohlas, který jeho inspirativní dílo našlo v současné publicistice a umělecké kritice.

Abstract (in English)

The contribution pays attention to the hitherto little-known personality of Karel Behr and his contribution to Prague's cultural and social life in the 1850s and 1860s. It also recalls Behr's multi-faceted business activities, particularly shedding light on the origin and functioning of his art shop, as well as its assortment. It also approximates the relatively significant response that his inspiring work found in contemporary publicism and art criticism.
