Abstract

The paper presents results of a qualitative phase of a mixed research in learning styles of English which took place at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Communication of the BUT. It brought some interesting insights in how technical students acquire English. Despite their technical orientation, which requires focus on logic, analysis and theory, students prefer to learn English subconsciously and osmotically, without paying much attention to rules and grammar.

Abstract (in Czech)

Příspěvek prezentuje výsledky kvalitativní fáze smíšeného výzkumu učebních stylů angličtiny, který proběhl na Fakultě elektrotechniky a komunikace Vysokého učení technického v Brně. Přináší zajímavé pohledy na způsob, jak se techničtí studenti učí angličtinu. Navzdory své technické orientaci, která vyžaduje zaměření na logiku, analýzu a teorii, se studenti raději učí angličtinu podvědomě a náhodně, bez příliš velkého důrazu na pravidla a gramatiku.
