Abstract

Pierre Emmanuel, poète et journaliste français, était particulièrement sensible à la liberté des représentants culturels de l'ancienne Tchécoslovaquie et d'autres pays d'Europe de l'Est, qu'il a également soutenus à l'époque où ils n'avaient plus de liberté d'expression. Cet article examine les grandes lignes de sa visite dans certains pays d'Europe de l'Est en 1947, au cours de laquelle il a déjà reconnu les signes des régimes totalitaires naissants. Désormais, il sympathise avec ses collègues qui ne peuvent pas s'exprimer librement, tout en s'engageant pour la défense des valeurs morales, de la liberté, de l'homme dans sa dignité et sa plénitude. Ces activités ont montré sa disponibilité à agir toujours au nom de l'humanité avec les personnes en difficulté, y compris, en Tchécoslovaquie, les signataires de la Charte 77 (publiée en France dans Le Monde du 6 janvier 1977).

Abstract (in Czech)

Francouzský básník a novinář Pierre Emmanuel byl obzvláště citlivý na svobodu představitelů kultury v bývalém Československu a dalších východoevropských zemích, které podporoval i v dobách, kdy už neměly svobodu slova. Tento článek zkoumá hlavní rysy jeho návštěvy několika východoevropských zemí v roce 1947, během níž již rozpoznal známky rodících se totalitních režimů. Od té doby soucítil se svými kolegy, kterým nebylo umožněno vyjadřovat se svobodně, a zároveň se zavázal k ochraně morálních hodnot, svobody a člověka v jeho plnosti a důstojnosti. Tyto aktivity ukazovaly jeho připravenost jednat vždy ve jménu lidskosti s lidmi v nesnázích, včetně českých a slovenských signatářů Charty 77 (publikované ve Francii v Le Monde, 6. ledna 1977).

Abstract (in English)

The French poet and journalist Pierre Emmanuel was particularly sensitive to the freedom of cultural representatives in former Czechoslovakia and other Eastern European countries, which he also supported at times when they no longer had freedom of speech. This article examines the main features of his visit to some Eastern European countries in 1947, during which he already recognised the signs of nascent totalitarian regimes. Henceforth, he sympathised with his colleagues who were not allowed to express themselves freely, while, at the same time, committing himself to the protection of moral values, freedom, and man in his dignity and fullness. These activities showed his readiness to act always in the name of humanity with people in difficulty, including the signatories of Charter 77 in Czechoslovakia (published in France in Le Monde, 6 January 1977).
