Abstract

J. A. Comenius' Verhältnis zu Sprachen und deren Vermittlung war sehr herzlich und tief, was sich in einem großen Teil seines Lebenswerkes widerspiegelt. Zu den wichtigsten Schriften auf diesem Gebiet gehört sicherlich die "Neueste Methode der Sprachen" (Linguarum methodus novissima). In dieser Publikation entwirft Comenius die erste allgemein anerkannte Theorie der Sprachdidaktik auf der Grundlage von Beobachtungen, Experimenten und Praxis und verfolgt damit seinen Traum, die Sprachdidaktik in die Reihe der anderen Wissenschaften zu stellen und gleichzeitig einen verständlichen "Leitfaden" für den Sprachunterricht zu liefern. Das Hauptziel des Beitrags ist es, festzustellen, wie es uns heute, nach mehr als 400 Jahren, gelingt, diese Träume von ihm in ausgewählten Aspekten im Kontext des heutigen Fremdsprachenunterrichts zu verwirklichen.

Abstract (in English)

J. A. Comenius’s relationship to languages and their teaching was very warm and deep, which is reflected in a large part of his life’s work. To the most important writings in this area certainly belongs ‘Latest method of languages’ (Linguarum methodus novissima). In this publication Comenius creates the first generally recognized theory of language didactics based on observation, experiments and practice, thus pursuing his dream of moving language didactics among other sciences and at the same time providing an understandable “guide” to language teaching. The main purpose of the contribution is to determine how we are now, after more than 400 years, managing to fulfill these dreams of his in selected aspects of the context of the current approach to teaching foreign languages.
