Abstract (in English)
The founder of art history in Brno, an expert on architecture of the early modern period, but also the most loyal fan of Zbrojovka Brno and, above all, an art historian whose intellectual scope exceeds his specialization. It is all about Professor Jiří Kroupa, the guest on the 40th episode of the podcast. Archaeologist Jiří Macháček and art historian Ivan Foletti talked to him about art history in the broadest sense of the word. According to Jiří Kroupa, is it better to be narrower or broader in your research field? In what ways do we get richer, and in what ways do we get poorer if we specialize only in a certain historical period? Why is dialogue so important for the humanities? And in what ways should the natural sciences be inspired by art history? This is what the three professors talk about over a glass of wine.
