Urgentní medicína patří mezi mladší medicínské obory a v posledních letech se dynamicky rozvíjí. Zabývá se multidisciplinární problematikou diagnostiky, primárního ošetření a terapie náhle vzniklých stavů bezprostředního ohrožení života, všech náhle vzniklých onemocnění a úrazů na místě události, při transportu postižených a při přechodu z přednemocniční do nemocniční péče.

Emergency medicine is one of the younger medical disciplines and has been developing dynamically in recent years. It deals with the multidisciplinary issues of diagnosis, primary treatment and therapy of sudden onset conditions of immediate danger to life, all sudden onset diseases and injuries at the scene of the event, during transport of the affected and during the transition from pre-hospital to hospital care.
