Abstract
Hydrophobic ion pairs (HIPs) are a valuable technique for enhancing the cellular uptake of hydrophilic molecules, ranging from small molecules and peptides to large proteins. The goal was to create a hydrophobic ion pair (HIP) between two fluorescent molecules and to be able to observe the formation and behaviour of the resulting complex.
