Digitalisové glykosidy jsou nejstaršími léky v kardiovaskulární medicíně používanými v léčbě fibrilace síní a také u pacientů se srdečním selháním. V roce 1997 byla publikována Digitalis Investigation Group doposud jediná randomizovaná a placebem kontrolovaná studie u pacientů se srdečním selháním a sinusovým rytmem. Užívání digoxinu se v posledních letech dostalo do pozadí. Proč tomu tak je a které studie se v současnosti zabývají glykosidy, bude diskutováno v tomto přehledovém článku

Digitalis glycosides are the oldest drugs in cardiovascular medicine used in the treatment of atrial fibrillation, as well as in patients with heart failure. In 1997, the only randomized and placebo‐controlled trial in patients with heart failure and sinus rhythm, called the Digitalis Investigation Group, was published to date. The use of digoxin has fallen into the background in recent years. Why this is so, and the studies currently looking at some glycosides will be discussed in this review article.
