Abstract
On 21 May 2001, an adult male Hypsugo savii was found at Zabcice, 20 km south of Brno and 90 km north of Vienna. The bat was unable to fly and was preserved as a museum specimen. This is the first reliable record of the species in the territories of both the present Czech Republic and the former Czechoslovakia.
