Abstract
V originále
Bioconcentration and bioaccumulation of harmful pollutants in individual biotic components of the running water ecosystem are two of the very important information sources for risk analysis in the environment. Currently, the knowledge of food webs in running waters has increased and so it is possible to choose suitable bioindicators in the sense of sentinel organisms. Bioconcentration and bioaccumulation in individual components (levels of the trophic chain) depend on properties of followed substances (especially lipophility) and their accessibility in food sources of the organisms . The food behavior and length of life (exposure) are very important characteristics of the bioindicators. The present study aims to investigate food web contamination in different types of running water ecosystem in the Czech Republic in Central Europe. The sediment contamination study was presented in 1993 -1995. The research reported here is a comparative and quantitative study of contamination of sediment and aquatic biota based on a two - year research.
