Abstract
The aim of the work was to test the utilisation of immunomagnetic separation followed by PCR for the identification of Salmonella cells present in some processed foods containing PCR inhibitors, and of atypically growing Salmonella cells. However, Salmonella cells alone can contain intracellular termostabile inhibitors which must be considered when performing PCR. These inhibitors can be eliminated with free and immobilized proteinase K.
