The article is devoted to the questin: "How can socity resond to the problematic interactions between then Czech majority a Roma minority?" To address this topic, two typologies of aproaches to the work with minorites are discussed. The first typology pays attention to different degrees of distance and tolerance as the two basic characteristic of responding to problematic relationship between th majority and the minority. The second typology is based on the asumpotion that the sress social workeres put either on personal or environmental facotrs represents a crucial determinatnt of different approarches to working with minority clientts and managing their living situations.
