V originále
The basic infrastructure s needs in the candidate CEE countries have changed after the decline of communism. Especially the mutual trade between Western and Eastern Europe requires good-quality transport connections to the Western Europe. In this context, enlargement is set to trigger a veritable explosion in exchanges of goods and people between the countries of the Union. All expecting changes result in challenges as well as opportunities that must be exploited quickly and with a long-term policy perspective in mind. The paper tries to outline these problems in the sphere of road and rail traffic.
