Abstract
While the topic of homosexuality has gradually become largely debated within the Czech context, there is still little known about gay people themselves. The author attempted to reveal some aspects of gay peoples everyday life by using qualitative measurement techniques, as well as enable these people to give account of their lives in their own words. The research was designed to capture the local gay minority using the theoretical framework of subculture. The following question served as main guideline in conducting the research: What are the principal characteristics of the gay subcultures public space in Brno as it is represented by two institutions, the gay dance club and public toilets?
