Abstract

Práce se zabývá kulturní reprodukcí společnosti. Toto téma je empiricky uchopeno na příkladu vzdělanostní reprodukce dělníků v české populaci. Srovnávací skupinou k dělníkům jsou vysokoškoláci. Nejdříve je zkoumána velikost ekonomického a kulturního kapitálu dělnické a vysokoškolsky vzdělané rodiny a pak jsou analyzovány hodnoty, postoje a chování vzhledem ke škole a vzdělání, které jsou pro dělníky a vysokoškoláky charakteristické. Výzkumná otázka zní: jak a proč se z dětí dělníků stávají zase dělníci? Na pokladě 12 kvalitativních rozhovorů s dělníky a 5 rozhovorů s vysokoškoláky na otázku jak autor odpovídá konceptem volný vztah, jež je typický pro postoj dělníků ke škole a konceptem soudržný vztah, který je charakteristický pro postoj vysokoškoláků ke škole. Na otázku proč autor odpovídá pomocí rozdílných životních strategií dělníků a vysokoškoláků. U těch prvních je to materiální strategie. Pro tuto strategii je charakteristická orientace na manuální práci a ekonomickým příjem, na hmotnou stránku života. U těch druhých je to statusová strategie, pro níž je charakteristická orientace na vzdělání a status, na sociální stránku života.

Abstract (in English)

This thesis deals with the cultural reproduction of society. The empirical research was done in working class families and in families with higher education. The research first addresses economic and cultural capital in working class families and in families with higher education, then it goes on to assess values and attitudes towards to school and education in both types of families. The research question is: how and why working class children get working class jobs? The author conducted 12 qualitative interviews with manual workers and 5 qualitative interviews with employees with university qualification. On the basis of these interviews, he answered the question how working kids get working class jobs with the concept of discretion, which is characteristic for the relationships between working class family and school. The concept of coherence was used to characterize the relationship of families with higher educational qualifications to education. On the question why working class kids get working class jobs, the author answers with the different life strategies of manual workers and those with university qualifications. For manual workers, the guiding principle is the typical material strategy; for the high school peoples is typical status strategy.
