Abstract
Stable telomere maintenance is essential for indefinite cellular proliferation of germaline and tumour cells. In most cases, telomere synthesis is performed by nucleoprotein enzyme complex of telomerase. Rarely, telomeres may also be maintained via alternative (recombination-based) mechanism.
