Abstract

Publikace se zabývá novým aspektem gramotnosti ve vyspělých společnostech, tzv. funkční gramotností, tedy schopností člověka orientovat se v současném složitém světě plném informací. Vychází z dat mezinárodního výzkumu (IALS), který ve dvaceti zemích světa, včetně České republiky, testoval funkční gramotnost dospělých, a přináší řadu srovnání, jakož i výkladů o příčinách a důsledcích tohoto jevu.

Abstract (in English)

The monography deals with a new aspect of literacy in more developed countries, so called functional literacy, which means competence of the individual to function in contemporary complex world full of symbols and information. It is based on data from International adult literacy (IALS) carried out in twenty countries, the Czech Republic included. The book presents international comparisons, as well as disscusions on causes and consecvences of functional literacy.
