Článek je příspěvkem k diskusi o meritorním a metodologickém vymezení sociologie výchovy a k jejímu postavení v rámci dalších společenských věd. Činí tak na základě obsahové analýzy vybraných monografií - učebnic sociologie výchovy z anglo-americké produkce posledních padesáti let.

The article contributes to the discussion about the objective (meritorious)and methodological definition of sociology of education and its position within the family of other social sciences. The author proceeds by the content analysis of selected monographs - sociology of education textbooks of Anglo-American origin in the last fifty years.
