Abstract
Sediments from the bottom of the Horní Bečva Reservoir(HBS2,HBS6,HBV4)contain identical mineral phases andvaryinclaycontents(HBS2 1wt%,HBV4 18.5wt%).Withtheincreasingclayamount,thecontentsofFe-oxyhydroxidesandorganicmatteralsoincrease.Claymineralsinlakebottomsedimentsarerepresentedmainlybykaolinite(K),chlorite(C)andmixed-layerillite/smectite(I/S)withexpandabilityofca.40%S[(K>C)=I/S].NeogeneargillaceousandsiltysandstonefromStaréMěsto(SMA)comprisesthehighestamountofclayfraction(31wt%).Phyllosilicates,especiallysmectiteandkaolinite(S=K),surroundtherock-formingminerals.H(Hevlín)and Žd(Ždánice)PaleogeneandNeogenesiltysandstonescontaincarbonatecement(dolomite>calcite).ThedominantclaymineralinbothsandstonesisI/Swithexpandabilityofca.95%S.TheHsamplecontainsalsoaconsiderableamountofchloriteanddiscreteillite(S>C>Id).
