In English
The paper deals with position of media studies between so called humanities and social sciences, respectively tries to define the task of this discipline in the context of dynamic entrance of new communication technologies and their symbolic effects. Media studies are presented as a discipline capable of creating a reasoned discourse of the symbolic function of mediations, in other words, of the relation between two objects which belong to both the universe of techniques and of beliefs. From this point of view the role of media studies in late-modern society is based on the synthesis of two types of critique - traditional critique of ideology and nascent critique of information.
