Abstract

Autor se ve svém příspěvku zaměřil na objasnění možných souvislostí mezi sebevraždou britské dramatičky Sarah Kaneové a prvky tvůrčího procesu, které se mohly na jejím sebevražedném jednání podílet. Protože stále nejsou o autorce k dispozici téměř žádné autobiografické údaje, analyzuje pouze její hru Psychóza ve 4.48. Na základě tohoto textu se pokouší rekonstruovat důvody, které mohly její suicidium facilitovat. Využívá k tomu především Krisova konceptu regrese ve službě ega. Je vyslovena hypotéza, že tvůrčí akt s prvky regrese měl Sarah Kaneové pomoci zvládnout depresi, paradoxně ji však přiblížil k sebedestrukci. Proces regrese, který je přirozenou součástí tvůrčího činu, tak mohl u depresivní autorky pozbýt svoji funkci integrace nevědomých obsahů do výsledného uměleckého tvaru. Stručně jsou uvedeny další možné výklady sebevražedného jednání umělců.

Abstract (in English)

The author examines the potential connections between the suicide of the British playwright Sarah Kane and the factors in her creative process that might have played a role in the development of her suicidal behavior. Since almost no autobiographical data about Sarah Kane are available, the author bases his analysis on her play '4.48 Psychosis' solely. On the basis of it and with the help of Kris's concept of 'regression in the service the ego' he tries to detect factors that might have facilitated Kane's suicide. He hypothesizes that a creative act with regressive elements helped Kane to cope with depression, but paradoxically drew her closer to self-destruction. Thus the process of regression lost its function of integrating unconscious contents into artistic form.
