Abstract
The inhibition by phenylglyoxal of the methyl-viologen-linked nitrate reductase disappears if tetraphenylphosphonium cation is added to the assay medium. The paper demonstrates by several independent approaches that this effect results from an increased anion permeability of the membrane.
