Abstract
Na gravettienské lokalitě Pavlov byl nalezen neúplný zub fosilního žraloka Carcharocles megalodon (Agassiz, 1843) miocenního (pravděpodobně badenského) stáří pocházející z miocenních sedimentů karpatské předhlubně nebo vídeňské pánve. Na jeho povrchu byly objeveny stopy lidské činnosti svědčící o tom, že byl používán jako řezný nástroj. Dále byly na povrchu zubu zjištěny stopy bioeroze vyvolané působením kořenů rostlin, které vznikly až po opětovném pohřbení zubu v sedimentech na lokalitě Pavlov.
Abstract (in English)
The uncomplete tooth of the fossil shark species Carcharocles megalodon (Agassiz, 1843) was studied from the Gravettian locality Pavlov. The tooth is of Miocene (most probably of Badenian) age, its potential source area being the Carpathian Foredeep or the Vienna Basin. The traces of human acivity are evident on its surface indicating that it was used probably as a cutting tool. Besides, even bioerosion or corrasion root traces were found on the surface. Their origin is connected with the interactions between the tooth and the roots of higher plants. These traces were formed probably after the tooth was again buried in sediments directly at the locality Pavlov.
