This was supported by several studies in which associations between some of the IL-18 gene polymorphisms and different atopic phenotypes were reported. In this study, we investigated an association of IgE-mediated allergic diseases in the Czech population and -133C/G single nucleotide polymorphism in the IL-18 gene promoter 2 which was previously associated with high IgE levels and specific sensitization in one study.
