Abstract
Chromosome numbers for 239 plants of Hieracium bauhini group from 84 localities in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Germany and Poland are given, three ploidy level were detected: tetraploid (2n = 36), pentaploid (2n = 45, most populations) and hexaploid (2n = 54). Tetraploid plants occurred mainly in Slovakia and Hungary, pentaploids and hexaploids in the Czech Republic and Germany. Reproduction mode was studied in some plants: tetraploids were sexual, pentaploids and hexaploids were apomictic.
