Spojovací prostředky v češtině období baroka |
Abstract (in English) |

The book provides an analysis of syntactic properties of selected conjunctions / linking words in Czech of the Baroque Period: alebrž, aniž, ano/ an, ana, ano, anobrž, jak ješto, nebo, buďto-anebo, ať-ať, nechť-nebo, nýbrž sice, ovšem. It deals with the fundamental changes in the prepositions’ meaning and function. The study focuses on the Czech language of the Baroque era (1620–1775), which – until recently – was considered to be a period of a linguistic decline. This negative stance towards Baroque Czech – motivated by political and ideological reasons – caused Czech linguists to neglect the Baroque era almost entirely until the 1990s. The present book, however, shows that there is no developmental gap between the Baroque Czech era and the Modern Czech era. |
