Abstract
The influence of 5-HT1 and 5-HT2 receptor antagonists on methamphetamine intake was analysed in both, naive rats and those depressed by olfactory bulbectomy. Our results indicate that the involvement of 5-HT2 rather than 5-HT1 receptor is important for methamphetamine reward properties what corresponds with the outcomes of methamphetamine discriminative studies. Thus, 5-HT2 receptor antagonists referred to attenuate the withdrawal signs of drugs of abuse could be of benefit also in treatment of methamphetamine dependence, mainly in addicts with depressive disorders.
Abstract (in Czech)
Výsledky ukazují na významný podíl aktivity 5-HT2 receptorového systémů v procesech odměny u potaknů v modelu deprese.
