Cílem článku je zamyslet se nad faktory, které vedly k vzniku finského stranického systému. Z důvodu silného vlivu politického systému na stranický systém bude úvodem krátká pozornost věnována i finskému semiprezidencialismu. Dále jsou sledovány změny, jež stranický systém prodělal v závěru 20. století a jeho současná podoba.

This article deals with the party and political system of Finland. Main focus is concerned on the changes of parties and party system during 20th century. It analyses strong polarization of party system by the influence of the civil war (1918), expansion of extreme-right formations in the 1930s and the certain stabilization of party system before World War II. Afterwards, the specific situation during Cold War is described, when the government formation and political interactions were strongly influenced by the sore geopolitical position of Finland. Conclusion is that Finnish semipolarized pluralism tended to moderate pluralism from 1980s.
