Abstract

Přímé dálkové vlaky zvyšují kvalitu železniční dopravy. Jejich existence je ovlivněna kvalitou drážní infrastruktury v příslušném směru a také politickými a společenskými podmínkami. Před rokem 1989 byla situace v Československu determinována celkovou politickou situací, po roce 1989 se změnila zahraničně-politická orientace země a navíc došlo k rozdělení společného státu. Příspěvek posuzuje vliv daných faktorů na existenci přímých železničních spojení z Prahy a Bratislavy včetně souvislostí s rozvojem systémů vysokorychlostní železniční dopravy např. v Německu a ve Francii.

Abstract (in English)

Long-distance trains increase the quality of railway transport. Their existence is influenced by the quality of railway infrastructure in the respective direction and also by political and social conditions. The pre-1989 situation in Czechoslovakia was determined by the overall political situation, after 1989 the country's political orientation changed and, in addition, the country split. This paper assesses the influence of the above factors over the existence of direct railway services from Prague and Bratislava to other European cities and explores the connection with the development of high-speed railway for example in Germany and France.
