Abstract

Autor studie v úvodu zdůrazňuje, že v posledních dvou desetiletích je v České republice věnována velká badatelská péče etnologickým výzkumům českých menšin na Balkánském poloostrově, kam Češi přicházeli jako kolonisté po skončení válek habsburské monarchie s osmanskou říší od počátku 19. století. Konstatuje, že historická bádání v tomto směru zaostávají. Přispět se k nim snažil autor stati, zkoumající na základě primárních pramenů kolonizační procesy a historický vývoj českého osídlení dnešního srbského Banátu. Článek seznamuje ve stručné formě s výsledky těchto výzkumů. Popisuje počátky české kolonizace, která do řídce osídlené nejvýchodnější části habsburské monarchie směřovala od 20. let 19. století, její těžkosti a postupnou stabilizaci českého osídlení. Čeští kolonisté v jižní části Banátu vytvořili relativně kompaktní české osídlení, jehož centrem bylo město Weisskirchen-Bela Crkva.

Abstract (in English)

In the introductory part of the paper the author emphasizes that in the past two decades there has been a great attention paid by the Czech scholars to the ethnological research of the Czech minorities living in the Balkans, where Czechs used to migrate as colonists after the Hapsburg-Ottoman Wars at the beginning of the 19th century. However, he notes that the historical research on the matter falls short. The author strives to contribute to this field of study by examining the primary sources on the colonization processes and the historical development of the Czech settlement in the Serbian Banat. The results of this research are presented in a concise form. The author describes the troublesome beginnings and a gradual stabilization of the Czech colonization of the scarcely populated easternmost parts of the Hapsburg Empire, which commenced in the 1820s. The Czech colonists formed a relatively compact Czech settlement in the southern part of the Banat with a centre in the town of Weisskirchen-Bela Crkva.
