Abstract
The work is aimed at proposal of a standardized data model for the evaluation of short-term and long-term results of health care, its safety and quality. Oncology is specifically used as educational model for other, similarly complex branches of medicine. HTA in such heterogeneous field must encompass evaluation of multi-step diagnostic and therapeutic algorithms and should reflect frequent changes that might occur in the course of therapy. The data model is based on interconnected minimum clinical records identifying the patient and disease, follow-up data including typology of risk events and health care data. The system built on such structured data base is able to automatically exploit all additional information offered by routinely operated databases and thus to protect physicians from redundant data collection. Recent development of hospital information systems has opened a space for the implementation of automatic procedures working over patient's electronic data records.
