The bases of nucleic acids can be determined by cathodic stripping voltammetry at nanomolar concentrations. Quite recently, Farias et al.presented determination of some nucleic bases in the presence of copper(II) in combination of mercury electrode to their ultratrace determination. Acid treated oligonucleotides containing purine bases were analysed by voltammetric techniques including differential pulse and cyclic voltammetry. The analysis is based on the electrochemical determination of released purine bases in the presence of copper(II) ions. Voltammetric stripping analysis was performed in alkaline or acidic medium using a hanging mercury drop electrode or a carbon paste electrode, respectively. We studied hydrolysed oligonucleotides in dependence on their length and we found good correlation between the voltammetric signal and oligonucleotide length. ER -
