Abstract

V originále

Habitat selection in the sedge warbler Acrocephalus schoenobaenus and the reed bunting Emberiza schoeniclus was studied on four selected plots in Jakubovské rybníky ponds (SW Slovakia). To characterise the habitat of both species, 40 environmental variables were measured on 64 sedge warblers territory samples and 19 reed buntings territory samples. The same variables were measured on 83 randomly selected control samples. The territory samples and the control samples were used to compare the environmental characteristics both inside and outside the territories. Data were processed using discriminant function analysis (DFA). The sedge warblers habitat was represented mainly by littoral components of vegetation; parameters of the littoral vegetation played an important role in the habitat selection. However, in the reed buntings habitat the terrestrial components of the vegetation predominated. Moreover, some of the territories were situated in stands with pure terrestrial vegetation.
