Abstract
We studied the effects of an enhanced bromide intake in the rat, at different levels of iodine supply to the organism, on the distribution of iodine within the body. The inhibitory effect of very high bromide levels in the organism on the accumulation of iodide by the thyroid and skin could explain the observation that bromide toxicity depended on the state of iodine supply.
