Autoři příspěvku zaměřují svou pozornost na změny průmyslové výroby v období transformace devadesátých let ve městech Brno a Plzeň, které reprezentují tradiční centra českého strojírenství. Podrobněji se zabývají rozdílným přístupem těchto měst k řešení negativních důsledků transformačního procesu, stejně tak i vzájemným porovnáním rozdílného vývoje tohoto procesu. Předmětem komparace je i nalezení příčin úspěšných popř. neúspěšných změn v průmyslové výrobě po roce 1989 v obou městech

The authors of this article focus their attention on changes of the industrial manufacture in the cities of Plzen and Brno during the period of transformation in 1990s. Those cities belong to traditional Czech industrials centers. The article deals with the issue how both cities approached to solve negative results of the transformation process. It compares the differences of transformation process development as well. The subject of such a comparison is also to identify reasons of both successful and unsuccessful changes in the industrial manufacture after 1989.
