This paper looks at the ways which contemporary Native American authors use in order to incorporate the tribal system of knowledge into their writings. The author examines the selections from the works of Leslie Marmon Silko, N. Scott Momaday and Thomas King, in which they address the issue of literacy, storytelling and the power of the spoken word.

Příspěvek zkoumá, jakým způsobem a do jaké míry začleňují současní spisovatelé indiánského původu tradiční znalosti svého kmene do psaného textu. Autorka analyzuje úryvky z děl Leslie Marmon Silkové, N. Scotta Momadaye a Thomase Kinga, ve kterých se vyjadřují ke gramotnosti, tradici vyprávění a k síle mluveného slova.
