Abstract
Based on the results drawn from private face-to-face conversation and public radio discussions, the author proves that the clausal forms you know and you see can perform in spoken English various functions which they do not have in its written variety. These functions depend on many factors, for example, prosodic features, turn position and above all the whole situatuional context.
Abstract (in Czech)
Na základě výsledků analýzy provedené na textech obsahujících soukromou bezprostřední konverzaci a veřejné rozhlasové diskuse autorka dokazuje, že verbální formy you know a you see mohou v mluvené angličtině vykonávat různé funkce, které nemohou mít v její mluvené podobě. Tyto funkce závisejí na mnoha faktrorech, např. na prozodických vlastnostech, pozici v replice a především na celém situačním kontextu.
