Abstract
The study indicates that the clausal form you know not only tends to be frequently used in English conversation, but also tends to perform various discourse functions. They depend on many factors, for example, prosodic features, position within the turn and sequence of turns, entire situational context including its participants, their relationships and the topics discussed in a particular situation.
