The article compares three telephone and three face-to-face conversations while trying to contribute to the understanding of the role of some interactive discourse items in spoken English. The author concentrates on the clausal forms you know and you see and question tags as linguistic means capable of prompting some reaction from the listener.

Článek srovnává tři telefonní a tři bezprostřední konverzační texty a snaží se přispět k pochopení role některých interaktivních diskurzních částic v mluvené angličtině. Autorka se zaměřuje na verbální formy you know a you see a věty-komentáře jako jazykové prostředky, které jsou schopny vyvolat nějakou reakci ze strany posluchače.
